Success and Focus Go Hand in Hand
If you want to be knock it out of the park successful by slaying your goals you will need laser like focus.
I used to be a professional rider. I went from amateur to pro very quickly and easily by harnessing one thing, and that was focus. The difference between mediocre horses and great horses is focus. Nothing annoyed me more than a supposedly trained horse that could not focus.
Champions Focus
When I rode a horse I had a one track mind. I didn’t think about what I was going to be eating for dinner, or what I was doing when I left the barn, I only thought about my task at hand.
I went into the arena with a plan and I completely focused on it every single second I was with my horse. That complete focus paid off incredibly. I won everything I competed in, I was able to train horses easily and effectively. I reached ALL of my goals incredibly quickly.
Focus is Mastery
Focus isn’t just effective for training horses, it’s effective for mastering everything! When you have laser like focus you can achieve all of your goals in record time. So now that we know what focus is, and what it can do, lets see how we can apply that to other areas.
Recognize a Wandering Mind
First start to recognize when your mind wanders in short increments. Don’t expect to go from being all over the place all the time to being focused in one day. It could happen like that but usually it takes some time to master.
The very first step to take in training your brain to focus is to recognize when your mind starts wandering. Our minds are extremely powerful and we are wasting that power if we don’t focus on what we need to do to reach our goals.
When you sit down to work on your goals, recognize distractions. Set a timer and start out small. The better you get at training your brain to focus the longer amount of time you will be able to stay focused. In the beginning if you don’t have a lot of focus you may only be able to do 15 minutes. Maybe you can do an hour, or maybe you can do longer.
Where are You With Your Ability to Focus?
This is uninterrupted time to completely focus on your goals. No social media distractions please! The nice thing about the timer is you can tell everyone in your house that they cannot talk to you for whatever time the timer is on so you are not distracted.
During this time of complete focus, recognize when your mind wanders. Note how much time you were able to focus before your mind started to wander. Write a quick note of the time you had left and then bring your focus back to the task at hand.
By noting the time your mind began to wander, you can see how you are progressing. Maybe this week you could only focus for 15 minutes, maybe by next week you will be up to 30 minutes or an hour.
The more you practice this total focus exercise, the longer you will be able to do it without your mind wandering.
Training Your Brain For Success
You will gain so much more time in your day by spending your time wisely and productively.
By focusing on your goals you will reach them so much quicker than you ever thought possible. You won’t be doing “busy work” but actual work. Your day can get away from you so quickly when your brain is not trained to focus for any length of time
Knowing Where to Focus
Knowing exactly what you want will help you to focus. Loose goals can be difficult to achieve. All the focus in the world can’t help you if you don’t know where you need to focus. Just like I did with horses, to be successful you need a PLAN.

Bonus Tips For Focus For Goals
More tips to use for focus to achieve your goals:
- Do I have a comfortable workspace free from distractions? A busy area of the house is not a good place to practice focus. If your workspace isn’t comfortable that will be distracting.
- What is my goal? Is it concrete and well thought out? Your goal should be well thought out and super inspiring. Something so vivid you cannot help but focus to achieve it. You have to be able to want to taste that victory.
- Get your family on board. You cannot focus when you constantly have distractions. If your family cannot help but distract you lets face it you might have to find another place to go work without distractions.
- Get rid of feelings of inadequacies and guilt. You are doing this for a better life not just for yourself but for your family. Don’t feel guilty because they will benefit from the fruit of your focus.
Success generally won’t happen by accident it needs to be planned carefully by keeping your eyes on the prize and staying focused.
